The Pregnancy - Week 16

Written by

Would like to bring your notice to a few test which need to be done in this week. The 16th week of pregnancy is very important and Doctors usually test for Down's syndrome and spina bifida in the baby during this week. This is a blood test done on the mother and does not cause any harm to the baby. You may get the results of the test in a week to 10 days.

You may experience pain in the lower part of your abdomen and in your lower back.  This is normal and they usually come down by taking rest. You may also have white discharge. This is also normal and is usually seen during pregnancy to prevent infections. The lower part of the birth canal  is closed by a white mucus plug and this prevents infection of the birth canal.

The baby may be almost 4 to 5 inches long and would be growing rapidly. Pregnancy is a time to enjoy. Stay away from stress and always be active and stay happy.
