Can you believe that, India has biggest number of children not immunized.
The Universal Immunization Program supports national and state governments to boost routine immunization (RI) and supplementary immunization, including for polio, measles, and Japanese encephalitis. This week ( last week of April) happens to be celebrated across the world as the world immunization week. It aims to promote the use of vaccines to prevent diseases. Immunization protects babies from many diseases and saves millions of lives every year Vaccinations are probably one of the world’s most successful and cost effective health intervention. Last year saw an outbreak of measles and Rubella and other vaccine preventable diseases. Most of these could be prevented and were seen in poorer and marginalized communities.
The value of vaccines for health of children and the communities they live in is paramount. Routine immunization can keep many diseases at bay.
