About the baby

Almost the size of a Rice Grain.

Your baby is 6-7 mm in length by the end of the first month of the pregnancy.

Two weeks after the menstrual period the follicle containing the ovum is ripe and roughly measures 2 cm in diameter and now begins to produce hormones. When the ovum is released by the follicle every month, it is captured by the fallopian tube and the ovum travels through the fallopian tube all the while being surrounded by nourishing cells.

Ovum travels through the fallopian tube which is almost 15 cm long and it does so with the help of cilia which helps it in propelling it forward. Once fertilized by the sperm the fertilized cell will get implanted into the wall of the Uterus making this it's home for the next 9 months.

Symptoms and signs in this month

You may not even know that you are pregnant yet. It is a good idea to meet your doctor to take pre-natal or pre-pregnancy advice/ counseling (at a time when you are planning to get pregnant). This visit can help you to understand the various aspects of pregnancy and what to expect through your 9 months. This is also a time to start your prenatal vitamins if you haven't started yet. Here's wishing you a happy and healthy Pregnancy!
