According to WHO, there are still nearly 20 million unvaccinated and under-vaccinated children in the world. India has the largest number of births in the world – more than 26 million a year – but sadly India also accounts for more than 20 per cent of child mortality worldwide. Out of the 20 million unvaccinated children in the world India alone accounts for 7.4 million unvaccinated children. The national average for full immunization is 62 per cent(NFHS 3)

Certain states in India like Telangana are setting an example with innovative ways to improve the birth outcome by providing pregnant women with birth kits. While cash incentives and mid-wives have always been in the scene, providing birth assistance kits is a novel idea.

MMR ಸಂಕ್ಷೇಪಣ ಮಂಪ್ಸ್, ಮೀಸಲ್ಸ್ (ದಡಾರ), ಮತ್ತು ರುಬೆಲ್ಲಾ ಕಾಯಿಲೆಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಮೀಸಲ್ಸ್, ಮಂಪ್ಸ್  ಮತ್ತು ರುಬೆಲ್ಲಾ ವೈರಸ್ ನಿಂದ ಹರಡುವ ರೋಗಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಈ ಕಾಯಿಲೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಲಸಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕಂಡುಹಿಡಿಯುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಮುಂಚೆಯೇ ಅವು ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಮಕ್ಕಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕಂಡುಬರುತ್ತಿದ್ದವು. ಈ ಕಾಯಿಲೆಗಳು ಗಂಭೀರ ಪರಿಣಾಮ ಬೀರುತ್ತವೆ. ಇತ್ತೀಚೆಗೆ ಮೀಸಲ್ಸ್ ಮತ್ತು ರುಬೆಲ್ಲಾ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಭಾರತವು ಒಂದು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಜಾಗೃತಿ ಪ್ರಚಾರವನ್ನು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಿದೆ.

MMR का मतलब मम्प्स (Mumps), मीसल्स (Measels) और रूबेला (Rubella) है। Measles, mumps, और rubella वायरल रोग हैं और इन बीमारियों के लिए टीकों का आविष्कार होने से पहले वे आम तौर पर बच्चों में हुआ करता था। इन बीमारियों के गंभीर परिणाम हो सकते हैं।

A few facts about MMR vaccination

MMR stands for Mumps, Measles, and Rubella. Measles, mumps, and rubella are viral diseases and before the vaccines for these diseases were invented they occurred in children commonly. These diseases can have serious consequences.

People tend to have their own reservations about vaccinations. One of my patients had asked me - Doctor, why should I get my child injections in the name of vaccinations. She is healthy and does not have any disease. I tend to tell my patients - Vaccinations are like an insurance policy. You buy insurance, to protect yourself from any unforeseen accidents or illness that may happen.
