Being pregnant in winter

Written by

It is cold outside and you are in your last trimester. Being a full term in winter can carry a few risks and you may need to take some precautions and extra care.  The weather being cold outside, it is especially important for you to stay warm.  The immunity of pregnant women is usually suppressed, and thus they are more prone to infections.

Thus you need to be extra careful during this time of the year when it is cold outside and when chances of infection is more. Being sick and pregnant is literally the worst. Having a high fever could also pose a safety risk            for babies that are in utero. You must have noticed dry skin and dry lips during this time.  Winter can be a time for dry skin as the air outside can be fairly dry and that air can be particularly harsh on the skin. One way to avoid having dry skin is to stay adequately hydrated. When the skin is hydrated, it will retain its supple texture. However, skin that is not adequately hydrated and is already being stretched due to a growing baby may become more prone to developing stretch marks. This is another reason for you to drink more water during the winter months.

Here’s to a Happy skin during pregnancy
